Did You Know At St Michaels..

• All of our teachers use voice amplifiers when teaching to help students learn

• We ordered 180 new Chrome books which now gives us close to 250 total in the school

• The total number of electronic devices for student use is iPads: 120; Chromebooks: 267; Laptops: 65

• That grades 3-8 got 5 new Laptops for classroom use

• All classrooms now have telephones for emergencies and for safety

• We have a new PA system and announcements can be made from our desk phones

• We have invested in a new School Safety Emergency Response System called "NaviGate"

• New cameras will be installed at all school entrances

• Every morning we announce a St. Michael School family name and pray for that family

• You can visit teachers’ web pages by going to www.smscanton.org and clicking on ‘Faculty & Staff’

• Students go to mass every Wednesday and several stay afterward to say the rosary for Tommy

• May Crowning of Mary is during next week’s school mass, May 20

• Parish offices will begin to move in the week of May 18

• Eventually the former "rectory" will be raised and become a parking lot

• The mobile unit across the street will close and tutoring, speech and hearing will now be in the school

• The state is requiring many more fire drills, tornado drills and lockdowns than usual

• That 78 students in grades 7 & 8 went to New York City last week for the junior high trip

• That our grade 2 students are making their First Communion this month

• That our grade 8 students made their Confirmation Sunday, May 3

• Many classes go to adoration each month

• The 3 year old class (M-W-F) is already filled for next year

• There are openings in the 3 year old class for Tuesday & Thursday and M/W/F afternoons

• We welcome parent volunteers throughout the school year in the cafeteria, library, office and in the classrooms. Sign up to help on a regular basis at your convenience. We couldn’t do it without our volunteers!

• Talent show is Friday, May 8, 1:30, school gym

• Next year bus drop off and pick up will go back to playground

• Our May calendar of events is full of important dates • Next year’s car line will again be in front of school. ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET. Parking at the curb is reserved for school and parish staff.

• All outstanding fees and/or current year tuition must be paid in order to be included in any end of school activities. Report cards will be held, Option C accounts locked and transcripts held until payment in full is made.

• The school carnival is the last day of school, June 2 and is a half-day. Buses will arrive at 12:00. There is no after care that day.

• We are SO excited about the new school entrance and offices. The colors are bright and cheerful and inviting, complete with carpeting & great furniture! We hope you’ll visit when we get settled in.
